Walter A Jones, Jr. 84 passed away October 9th, 2025 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Fair Haven, Vermont, son of Walter A Jones and Gladys Reed Jones. He worked in various slate quarries throughout Rutland County during his younger years. He married Shirley Tracy April 23rd, 1964 and together they raised two children Anne Jones Sturtevant and Danny Jones.

Walter enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren, He was an avid fisherman and hunter with many tales to go with it. He loved being outside meticulously mowing lawns while enjoying the sun and had a great love for classic country music with George Jones being his favorite.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley of 61 years (Poultney); a daughter, Anne Sturtevant (Charles) of Hubbardton; a son, Danny Jones (Kim) of Poultney. His grandchildren, Lee Sturtevant (Ashley) of Fair Haven, Ashley Lamb (James) of Wells, Ali Morgan (Jay) of Poultney, Jessica Phalen (Mark) of Fair Haven, Hailey McAdoo (Derek) of St. Albans, Joshua and Tyler Sturtevant of Hubbardton. Also his great grandchildren, Liam, Addalyn, Elliot, Iris, Juniper, Maisy, Maya and Myles. Also a sister, Joan Briggs of Fair Haven and Ron Jones of Clarendon and several nieces and nephews.

Walter is predeceased by his parents, and brothers Clayton Jones, William Jones, Timothy Jones and sisters Jaqueline Jones and Janice Marie.
