Viola E. Van Dien 93, formerly of Castleton, VT died Saturday morning September 29, 2018 at Glens Falls Hospital after a brief illness. She was born January 8, 1925 in Glens Falls, NY the daughter of Herbert and Cora (Harvey) Lindsay. Viola grew up in Granville, Ny and was a graduate of Granville High School. She married Myron Van Dien and worked for many years at Rutland Regional Medical Center in Rutland, Vt in the Dietary Department. She filled her retirement years with reading, following her favorite sports teams and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Peter Van Dien and wife Susan of Saranac Lake, Ny and by her daughter Jean Van Dien Greene and husband Richard of Wake Forest, N.C. and by her ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband Myron Van Dien who died December 19, 1991 and by her children Stephen Van Dien and Gretchen Miner, by her granddaughter Laurie Ann Fish, by her siblings, Sarah Kenyon, Granville Ny, Margaret White of Largo Florida, Cora Mae Douglas of Granville, NY, and Lamoyne Garrigan of Boca Raton Florida. Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 4, 2018 at 11 A.M. at the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home, located at 266 Allen Ave, Poultney, VT 05764, the Rev. Kevin Gebo pastor of the Truthville Baptist church will officiate. Visiting hours will be held from 10 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Mettowee Cemetery in Pawlet, VT.
