Obituary

Susan K. Kasuba, 67, died suddenly Sunday, September 29, 2024, after a brief illness.

Suzy was born February 27, 1957, in Rutland, Vermont, the daughter of Gerald and Joyce McGreevy. She grew up in South Poultney, Vermont and was a graduate of the Poultney High School Class of 1975, where she made many lifelong friends while playing softball, participating in the band and joining many of the clubs at the school. She remained an avid Blue Devils fan for life and took pride in watching her daughters play soccer, softball, basketball and cheer during their time at PHS and attending sporting events for her grandchildren as well. In the past, Suzy was the President of the Poultney Booster Club and a member of the Poultney School Board.

Suzy married Jim Kasuba on June 26, 1976, at St. Raphael's The Arch Angel Church in Poultney. She loved to vacation with family and friends. Taking yearly trips to the ocean in York, Maine each summer, Florida in the winter and Myrtle Beach each spring. Suzy enjoyed camping and being at Lake St. Catherine State Park.

She worked for several years in the office at Castleton Medical Center and then as a legal secretary at DeBonis, Wright & Winpenny before becoming the bookkeeper at The Poultney Town Office until she retired in 2017.

Suzy had a passion for being involved in her community and its many organizations. She was a Justice of the Peace and Notary Republic. The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 39 was one of the organizations that was a very important part of Suzy's life. She worked in the legion doing bookwork, was the acting secretary and had been an officer or member for twenty years. She loved handing out poppies and presenting school programs in the community each year for Memorial Day as well as marching in the parade for Memorial Day and the Fourth of July. One of her favorite activities was placing the American Legion Auxiliary flags at the cemetery in memory of deceased members. Suzy was also active in helping facilitate programs at the Young at Heart Senior Center as a past president and current Vice President. She delivered meals on wheels, helped in the dining room and facilitated fundraising for the center.

Suzy is survived by her two daughters, Jaime Milazzo and husband Louis of Poultney and Angela Haynes and Eric of Middletown Springs. Her mother Joyce McGreevy of Poultney, her sister Sandra Winn and husband Steve of Ft. Ann, NY and her grandchildren: Isabella, Lucas, Nicolas and James Milazzo and Max and Allie Haynes of Middletown Springs. As well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband James Kasuba, her father Gerald McGreevy, and her three brothers Keith, John and Michael McGreevy.

Visting hours will be on Thursday evening October 10, 2024, from 4- 6 pm at Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home, located at 266 Allen Ave in Poultney.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 11 am at St. Raphael's the Arch Angel Catholic Church.

Burial will follow in St. Raphael's Cemetery. Followed by a celebration of her life at 1:00 pm open to all that knew her at the American Legion Post #39 in Poultney.

Memorial contributions may be made to The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 39 or The Poultney Young at Heart Senior Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home.
