Sonja Jean (Avery) Manning 53, of Granville, New York passed away January 5, 2019 at Rutland Regional Medical Center in Rutland, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 27, 1965 in Rutland, Vermont, the daughter of Byron Joseph Avery and Virginia Belle Crandall, she was the first daughter, born third of four siblings. On February 14, 1986, she married Barry William Manning. Sonja was a graduate of Poultney High School and worked in nursing and manufacturing. She was an employee of General Electric in Rutland and a former LNA with Rutland Area Visiting Nurse and Hospice. She will always be remembered for her kind and generous nature. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children. Sonja loved holidays and celebrations and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially at Lake St. Catherine. She was a great friend to many and the memory of her smile will remain close to those that loved her. Sonja is survived by her husband Barry Manning of Granville, NY, by her: son Brent Manning and his partner Luca Boatman, her daughter Nicole Nelson and her husband Fitzroy, and stepson Steven Manning. She was a proud grandmother of eight- Tyler Manning, Dylan Manning, Savannah Illsley, Andrew Florance, Shanell Williams, Alex Manning, Clyde Manning and Taaliyah Nelson. She is survived by her three siblings- John Avery of Blossvale, New York, James Avery of Wells, Vermont, and Laura McMahon of Poultney, Vermont and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents. Funeral Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home.
