Middletown Springs – Shirley D. Moyer

Shirley R. Moyer 89, died Tuesday evening January 2, 2024 at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

She was born July 31, 1934 in Morrisville, VT the daughter of Herbert H. and Lulu (Slicer) Dunbar.

Shirley was a graduate of Craftsbury Academy High School class of 1952

She met the love of her life while attending The University of Vermont in Burlington and married Byron Moyer on November 1st, 1953

Shirley was the Post Master of the Middletown Springs Post Office for many years, retiring in 2001. She enjoyed gardening town politics, traveling and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband Byron Moyer, of Middletown Springs, by her sons, Michael Moyer, of Leicester, Gary Moyer (Sheila), of Middletown Springs and Paul Moyer, of North Clarendon. By her brother Herbert H. Dunbar Jr., of West Glover, VT. Also by her daughter-in-law Denise Moyer, by her thirteen grandchildren and her numerous great- grandchildren and Great- Great grandchildren. Also by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents, by her sons, Karl Moyer in 1986 and Byron Moyer in 2020, by her grandson Allen Moyer in 2021.

A Celebration of her life will be held this summer.
