Shirley M. Maslack 90, died Monday evening February 26, 2018. She was born in Poultney January 10, 1928, the daughter of Fred and Nellie (Bowen) McLaughlin. Shirley was Valedictorian of her class, graduating from Poultney High School in 1946. She worked in her earlier years for C.V.P.S. and married Adam Maslack and raised her family. She later returned to work as a bus driver in Poultney for many years.
Shirley was an avid reader and loved birds, animals and flowers. She was a kind, compassionate and dignified woman and was always ready to work a crossword puzzle. Her faith in God was a guiding force for her, and she was an active member of the local Catholic Daughters during her younger years. In recent years, Shirley was less active and was fortunate to come to know several caregivers including Sara Ferguson, DeDe McLellan, Kyle Carignan and Jessica Petty, all of whom provided compassionate care and assistance to Shirley until her death. The Maslack family is deeply appreciative for all efforts to help ensure Shirleys happiness and comfort at home.
Survivors are her children, Fred and John Maslack both of Poultney, Ann Fraser of Plattsburgh, NY and Julie Maslack and husband Jeff Leo of Essex, VT, as well as her grandchildren, Clay McIntyre and Gabrielle Fernandez. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Adam, and siblings Harold, Charlie, Robert, Freddy, Martha and Dorothy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday March 7, 2018 at 11 A.M. at St. Raphael the Arch Angel Catholic Church in Poultney, with the Rev. Lourduraja Simeone as the Celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Poultney Rescue Squad or Castleton Community Center.
