Poultney, Vt Ruth-Ann (Dreyer) Knieriermen Ruth-Ann Knieriemen, 80, a resident of Poultney, VT and formerly of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Rutland Regional Medical Center, Rutland, VT. Born August 29, 1929 in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of the late Rolf C. and Ella (Stewart) Dreyer. On October 4, 1952 she married William W. Knieriemen who predeceased her on February 7, 2000. Ruth was a graduate of Green Mountain College; Poultney, VT where she returned in the 1970s to write the history of college, Green Mountain College-In Loco Parentis which was published in 1984. She was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1985 and was later awarded an honorary doctorate. Ruth served on the Alumni Board and the Board of Trustees. She is survived by two daughters, Jill Hauseman and her husband Doug and Sue Shear and her husband Pete, all of Poughkeepsie, NY and one son, Rolf Knieriemen of Poultney; four grandchildren, Kristin and Jason Burger, Kimberly and Lindsay Hauseman; and two great grandchildren, Jordyn and Jada Cortes. The family will receive friends from 11AM to 1 PM Monday at the Timothy Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY where services will be conducted at 1 PM Monday. Burial will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Poultney Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 76, Poultney, VT 05764 The family gratefully acknowledges the caregivers, April Blair and Cris Shabel.
