Obituary

Roswell George Warren III, 76, of Poultney, Vermont, passed away peacefully at home on August 4, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Born and raised in Hampton, New York, Roswell built a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and love. He spent 39 years as a maintenance mechanic at Saint Gobain Company in Granville, NY, where his unmatched work ethic and knack for fixing anything mechanical earned him the admiration of many. He also proudly served for 21 years in the Army National Guard, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Roswell was a man who thrived outdoors, especially on his 10-acre property in Poultney, which he maintained with relentless dedication. If it had a motor or four wheels, he could fix it. And if it didn't? He'd figure it out anyway. He had a deep love for the land, a steady hand, and a signature style of expressing frustration—with colorful expletives that somehow made you love him more. His happiest moments were simple: sitting around a fire, camping with family, or sipping coffee and joking with his buddies at Stewart's. He was as steady as the Vermont mountains and as real as they come.

Roswell is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Kathleen Warren; his daughter, Kimberly Flynn, and her husband, Mark; his son, Kevin Warren; his grandchildren, Roswell George Warren IV and wife Samantha, Jacob John Warren and wife Hannah, Justis Robert Warren, and Brooke Marie Cable and husband Sean; and his great-grandchildren, Sophia Seabolt and Roswell George Warren V. He also leaves behind his sister, Kathy Goodspeed. He was predeceased by his parents, Patricia and Robert Warren, and his brother, Kenneth Warren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bayada Hospice in Rutland, Vermont, in recognition of their compassionate care. Roswell's legacy lives on in every roaring engine, every cleared trail, and every fire lit in his memory. He will be deeply missed, fiercely remembered, and forever loved. Calling hours will be held at Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home, 266 Allen Avenue in Poultney, VT, on Monday, August 11th from 11 am to 1 pm. Interment will follow at Poultney Cemetery.
