West Pawlet - Rita W. Robson, 92, of West Pawlet died at home on Wednesday 25th September, 2024 following a long illness.
She was born on 23rd March, 1932 in Bergen, Norway the daughter of Reidar and Solveig Tobine (Kraavik) Wold.
Rita attended Nygard Skole, Bergen, Norway; Myklebust Skule, Breim, Norway; U. Phil Skole, Bergen, Norway and graduated from Sydneshaugen Skole (Gymnas) Bergen, Norway.
As a child in occupied Norway she and her sister Eli were two of many children who were put in an open topped train traveling over the mountains out of Bergen to the fjords and placed with farm families for a period of time.
After the 2nd WW she spent a year and a half in London, England as a child-care worker after which she moved to the USA. Rita worked initially in various office jobs, and became a citizen on 14th November, 1960. She worked in the health care industry for more than 20 years living and working with handicapped adults as a house mother, craft-master, and committee member of several groups; Home Life Specialist and council member, and Respite Residential Manager. She also was involved with Anthroposophical studies relating to work with the handicapped during her years at Camphill Villages both in New York and Pennsylvania.
Rita loved being able spend time with her grand-daughter on an almost daily basis; and attending her ballet, violin and school performances as well as skiing, soccer and horseback riding events. She loved to be in touch with family and friends far and wide, and attending the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert whenever she was able.
Survivors include a daughter Eli-Anita Norman and husband Ken of West Pawlet, a son Erik Rosseland of Indiana, her grand-daughter Nikoliné daLoria Norman, a sister-in-law Inger-Johanne Wold, three step-siblings Børge Wold and Solbørg, Tone Irene Wold, Stig Wold and Peerapa, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and her children's god-brother Lawrence DeMott of Connecticut.
She was predeceased by her husband Phillip English Robson 23rd April, 1992; as well as her brother Rune Bodvar Wold 1st November, 2020 and her sister Eli Rigmor Jensen 5th September 2022.
A date for a celebration of life is yet to be decided.
