Richard W. Parker, 83, died early Wednesday morning October 1, 2014 at the Pines in Rutland after a brief illness.
Born April 2, 1931 in Poultney, he was the son of the late Elmer and Helen (Parker) Parker.
He was a graduate of Middletown Springs High School and enlisted in the United States Army serving in Korea.
Richard worked for many years at Telescope Casual Furniture on the assembly line. He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed rabbit and deer hunting, fishing, wood working, making wooden ornaments and was an avid Boston Red Sox Fan.
He is survived by his children, Peggy Durham and husband Tom of Poultney and Mark Parker and wife Teresa of Tinmouth; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, siblings, Harriet Boyce of Syracuse, NY, Nancy Bealmear of Virginia, Jane Dorr of Proctor, Charlotte Baker, Sylvia Parker, Dorothy Reed, Paul Parker, Charles Parker, Robert Parker and Earl Parker all of Middletown Springs.
He was predeceased by his wife Norma Jean (Wood) Parker who he married October 25, 1952 in Middletown Springs. She predeceased him on January 19, 2007. He was also predeceased by his son, Rick Parker who died November 30, 2011 and also by several brothers and sisters.
A graveside service will be held on Monday October 6, 2014 at 11 A.M. in Pleasant View Cemetery, Middletown Springs, with the Rev. Holly Noble officiating.
