Patricia J. Roberts, 86 of Poultney, VT died on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the UVM Medical Center after a short illness. Pat was born on October 20, 1931 in Hampton, NY, the daughter of Idwal and Helen (Warren) Jones. She was a graduate of Poultney High School. On October 28, 1950 she married her beloved Tommy-Thomas Owen Roberts and together they raised five children on Roberts Ave. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. Pat was an accomplished pianist, gardener, cook and seamstress. She enjoyed mowing the lawn, hanging wallpaper, reading and keeping her home up and especially hosting family dinners. She always made her childrens friends feel welcome with a constant yard full of kids. While raising children, Pat also worked outside the home including at the Highland Grey Inn, Journal Press, office of the Superintendent of Schools and the Village of Poultney. She was a Justice of the Peace and member of the Poultney Select Board for over 20 years on which she held the position of Chairperson. She had an avid interest in genealogy and was a member of the Jane McCrea chapter of the Daughters of the Revolution and the Mayflower Society. Her pleasure in gardening led her to an active membership in the Tri County Branch of Womans National Farm and Garden. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Pat loved nature, watching/feeding the birds, hiking, camping and snowshoeing with Tommy. She enjoyed traveling to Bermuda, Texas, Maine, Florida, Nantucket, Marthas Vineyard, Wisconsin, Nova Scotia, Montreal and Quebec City. In addition to her parents, and her husband Tommy in 1999, Pat is predeceased by her brothers Chet, Ben and Lloyd. She is survived by her five children and spouses: Thomas I. Roberts (Pamela) of Wallingford, VT, Susan G. Roberts of E. Poultney, VT, Robert J. Roberts (Kathleen) of Moretown, VT, Jeffrey P. Roberts (Jean) of Poultney, VT and Sally A Roberts of Winooski, VT, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and her beloved cat, Sassy. She also leaves her sister Pam Ginter (Chuck) of Sandbornville, NH, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4-6PM, November 16, 2017 at Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home, 266 Allen Ave, Poultney. Funeral services and burial will be private.
