Obituary

Patricia H. Dillon 93, was called to Heaven on Monday January 8, 2018 at Mountain View Center in Rutland. She passed quietly and peacefully while surrounded by her loving family. She would like to be remembered for her boundless energy, the twinkle in her eyes, upbeat enthusiasm, unyielding determination, her wonderful sense of humor and for never being at a loss for words. It can truly be said that she lived a long, happy, and fulfilled life; a credit to her many friends and the community as a whole. She was born February 7, 1924 in Rutland raised by her mother Ruth Hitt. She moved to Poultney with her mother as a child and lived with her aunt and uncle, Helen and Raymond Phillips. Patty was a graduate of Poultney High School class of 1942. After graduating, she was employed as a pharmacy technician at McShanes Pharmacy in Poultney for 35 years, was an active member of the Episcopal Church, and served on the School Board from 1968 to 1974. She married Patrick Dillon, also of Poultney, in October of 1954 and had one daughter, Kim, in 1956. Patty enjoyed playing bingo, gardening, loved her pets, and was a longtime member and volunteer at the Poultney Rescue Squad and also the "Young at Heart" Senior Center. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Patrick Dillon in 1988 and her brother Wayne Williams in 2015. She is survived by her daughter Kim Thirkield and husband Ben of Poultney, step grandchildren Ryan Thirkield of Whitefish, MT and Anna Alandia of Salt Lake City, UT. Special thanks go to the Nurses, aides, and staff at Mountain View Center in Rutland for their kind and loving care of Patty in her final years. There will be no services at this time. Graveside services will be held in the spring of 2018 in Poultney Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rutland County Humane Society at 765 Stevens Road, Pittsford, VT 05763 www.rchsvt.org Arrangements are under the direction of the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home.
