Poultney- Mary F. McNamara, 98, a longtime of Poultney, died Sunday, June 12, 2011 at the Pines at Rutland.
Born July 5, 1912 in Poultney, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Marianna (Tomasi) Bertolino.
Mary was a graduate of Poultney High School, class of 1930 and attended Troy Conference Academy, now Green Mountain College. She was a homemaker and the widow of the late Dr. William J. McNamara who died December 28, 1977. Mary and her husband raised their family on Long Island. Following the death of her husband, Mary returned to Poultney in 1978.
She was a communicant of St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church and a member of the Poultney Womens Club.
Surviving family members include one son, Michael T. McNamara, MD of High Point, NC; two daughters, Maureen C. McKee of Centerport, LI, NY and Melanie A. Anziano of Land of Lakes, FL; three sisters, , Margaret McShane of Granville, NY, Frances Jackie Brandt of FL, and Helen Foley of Poultney; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Mary was predeceased by a son, William J. McNamara, Jr., and by four sisters, Anna Colvin, Jane Baker, Kay Potter Davis, and Madeline Faye Hanrahan.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, June 26, 2011 from 2-5 PM at the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home, 266 Allen Ave., Poultney.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Monday, June 27, 2011 at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, Poultney with the Rev. Sean Dowling, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Marys Cemetery, Fair Haven.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to express their gratitude to the nursing staff at the Pines at Rutland Nursing Home where Mary had been a resident for the past six and a half years. A donation can be made to the Pines Employee Appreciation Fund, c/o The Pines at Rutland Nursing Home, 99 Allen Street, Rutland, VT 05701-4583, in memory of Mary McNamara.
