Poultney, VT Mary Frances Jay Mrs. Mary Frances Jay 91, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning September 16, 2010 at the Pines in Rutland. She was born January 5, 1919 in Stamford, CT the daughter of John & Frances (Morgan) Bowron. She married her husband Ernest F. Jay June 23, 1934 in Darien, CT they had 56 wonderful years together. She was employed by Chayes Dental Corp in Danbury, CT retiring from there and traveled extensively to Yellowstone National Park with her husband where they worked for a little while and to Hawaii and up and down the east coast. Mary enjoyed music, reading, boating and traveling but just loved to be outside and visiting with family and friends. Mary is survived by her children, Jessie Jordan & her husband Harold, of Arcadia, FL, Betty Steward, of Arcadia, FL, Dot Squires, of Eagle Bridge, NY, Ida Holcombe, of Pickens, SC; Nancy Boden & her husband Bill, of Poultney, and Debbie Santoro, of Danbury, CT. Also by her sister Lillian Jay, of New Port Richey, FL, by her 21 grandchildren, her 34 great-grandchildren and her 12 great-great-grandchildren and by numerous nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her husband who died September 10, 1990, by her son Ernest Sonny Jay Jr. who died at 23 months, by her two son-in-laws, Ray Squires and Mathew (Junior) Santoro, by her brother Frank Bowron. A memorial service will be held on Saturday October 2, 2010 at 1 P.M. at the Poultney United Methodist Church. The Rev David Adams pastor will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Fund at the Pine at 99 Allen St. Rutland, VT 05701 or to the Rutland Area Visiting Nurse & Hospice at 7 Albert Cree Drive, Rutland, VT 05701.
