Leon Gilman Jones 89, died early Wednesday morning March 18, 2020 surrounded by his loving family at his residence after a long illness. He was born July 23, 1930 in Ira, VT the son of Dana E. Jones and Ella (Gilman) Jones. Leon enlisted with the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a former member of the Maranatha Baptist Church of Peoria, AZ and was an avid reader and fisherman. Leon is survived by his wife of sixty years Sally (Buxton) Jones, of Middletown Springs, by his children, Kelly Parker (Tom) of Mechanicville, NY, Dana Jones (Vicky), of Surprise, AZ and Winona Mayhew (Steve), of Wilton, NH. By his sister, Clara Bradley (Marty), of Rutland, by his nine grandchildren: Colleen, Rhys, Will, Cheyenne, Sierra, Kallie, Dana, Joshua and Hannah. And his two great-grandchildren Victoria and Jameson. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Alice Jones, Corinne Goddell Arthur Jones, Robert Jones, Melvin Jones and Roscoe Jones. A Private family Graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of his life will be held at a later date to be announced.
