Laurence W. Field 74, died Monday October 27, 2014 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born July 21, 1940 in North Adams, MA, he was the son of the late Laurence G. and Amy (Roach) Field.
He was a graduate North Adams High School, North Adams, MA, earned his Bachelors at West Virginia Wesleyan College and his Masters in Psychology from Springfield College. He also attained a certificate of Advanced Study in Psychology from UVM.
Laurence was employed by Green Mountain College and the College of Saint Joseph teaching Literature and Psychology.
He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed writing and reading, especially the writing of F. Scott Fitzgerald, Earnest Hemmingway movies, fishing and watching wildlife.
He is survived by his two sons, Todd Field and his wife Jennifer of Fort Meyers, FL and Jeffrey Field of Rutland; his siblings, David Field of GA. John Field of MA and Joan (Field) Witherell of MA; two grandchildren, Aibigail and John Jack Field and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Monday, November 3, 2014 at the Hydeville Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Hogan, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in Poultney Cemetery.
