Poultney - Judith (Judi) R. Ward (78) died peacefully on Nov. 21 after a short illness. She was born Oct. 23, 1941 in the Bronx, NY, the daughter of Bertha (Rubinstein) and Louis Shapiro.
She grew up in the Bronx and Norwalk, CT, graduating in 1959. She attended the University of Connecticut where she enjoyed putting on theater productions. She met and married David Millson. They raised 2 children in Waterbury, CT. Later divorced, she moved to New Hampshire and found work as a systems analysist for a major insurance company. Here she met and married Ethan Ward. They retired to Poultney in 1999. Area residents will remember her passion for the game of bridge - as a player, teacher and director at area bridge clubs.
She is survived by her husband Ethan Ward, a brother, Dr. Stuart Shapiro and his wife Dr. Caren Shapiro of Buffalo, NY, a son Kenneth and his wife Dasha, of Martinez, CA., grandsons Adam and Jack Millson of Seattle, WA, Sam Millson of the USCG stationed in Kittery, ME, Dennis Michaud of Groton, MA, and many cousins. She was predeceased by a daughter, Stephanie, in 1988.
