IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Judith Elizabeth
Leech
June 9, 1949 – December 19, 2024
Judith Leech, of Poultney Vermont, passed on peacefully December 19, 2024 at Rutland Regional Medical Center. Judy was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and long time Vice President of WVNR radio.
Born June 9, 1949 in Appleton Wisconsin, she was the daughter of John (Jack) Leech and Florence Davey Leech. They moved to Westernport, Maryland where Judy began school and later to Princeton, New Jersey where she attended middle and high school. She graduated SUNY Cortland in 1971, and taught for several years before taking graduate courses in computer science. In the late 1980's she took a job as manager of WVNR in East Poultney, Vermont, working on-air, on-line and in sales. The station became her passion in life. She truly loved the local community and the people who make it up as well as the people she worked with. She stayed well past normal retirement age in the hopes that through WVNR she could help people individually, and could help build the community. She enjoyed retirement beginning in 2021 after the station was sold. Retirement included working with the Chamber Commerce, particularly with digital media. It is the family's hope that people feel she made the positive difference that she set out to make.
Judy enjoyed good conversation, reading, hiking, laughter, family and friends. A tireless worker, she was strong minded and very independent. In spite of her years' long battle with Leukemia, she always maintained a very positive, optimistic and cheerful outlook and attitude, jokingly remarking very recently how much she was looking forward to her upcoming day off from appointments as a holiday. Organized, detail oriented and constantly planning ahead, we were a little surprised that she did not author her own obituary. At least not all of it. A very caring person, and a very proud 27 time World Champion NY Yankees fan, she will be greatly missed by her family.
Judy loved her family and friends including Kathy Leech, her late brother Michael's wife, and their sons Jack and Neil, her cousins David and Betsy Leech, Bob and Carolyn Leech, Tom Leech, Liz Stark, Bev Silloway, her late Cousin's Dick's wife, Peg Silloway, Kathleen Silloway, friends Nina, Greg, Nancy, Sue, Ann, Krista, Bob, Keith and Jeff and her brother Jim and his partner Mike.
At her request, no viewing or services are planned. She would however, very much appreciate any donations made to the
Poultney Fire Department or the Poultney Snowmobile Club. We love her and will miss her, but it is our hope that this remembrance of Judy will help all who grieve her loss focus on a celebration of her life and her life everlasting with the Lord.
Our appreciation and thanks to Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home for their compassion and all of their help.
