IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Howard
Morgan
July 21, 1955 – December 20, 2025
John Howard Morgan, 70, of Poultney, Vermont, gained his wings December 20, 2025.
Born in New York, John spent most of his life in Vermont, a place he truly called home. For many years he lived in Georgia, Vermont with the love of his life, before moving to Poultney this past fall, following his discharge from a nursing and rehabilitation center. Through determination, strength, and hard work in physical therapy, John regained mobility and independence, allowing him to come home after months of hospitalization and recovery from a serious spinal infection.
John found great comfort and happiness in the new home lovingly remodeled by his son, Jay, for him and his wife of 42 years, Crystie. His final months were filled with peace, gratitude, and the joy of being surrounded by family.
John was predeceased by his parents, Elaine "Baker" Morgan and Howard Maxwell Morgan of Essex Junction, Vermont.
A proud Veteran, John served over 13 years in the United States Army as Military Police and continued his service in the Air National Guard as a Helicopter Crew Chief. He was known as a hardworking, strong, resilient, and intelligent man. He was respected by all who knew him. Prior to retirement, he worked for Vermont Gas, Honeywell, Control Technologies, and Alliance Mechanical, where he worked his way up to supervisor.
John was a devoted husband, loving father of three, and cherished Papa. A proud Vermonter, Patriots fan, and lover of good music and action films, he was known for his sharp humor and deeply kind heart.
He is survived by his wife, Crystie "Carroll" Morgan; his children Jami Baker Daigle (Mike), Coty Austin Sluis (Josh), and John Tyler Morgan (Jay) (Ali); his grandchildren Domenico, Ella, Grace, Charlie, Emma, Holden, Austin, Luna, Ruby, Maisy, and Maya; his sisters Darlene Morgan, Jayne Benoit, and Fayne Cayea; and many extended family members and friends.
John leaves behind a legacy of strength, courage and resilience, but even greater than that, a legacy of deep, unwavering love for his family.
Interment with military honors will be on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at 11:00 am in Poultney Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life.
