Mrs. Joan Ruth Skovira, 84, died peacefully at her home, Monday afternoon, July 22, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was born August 14, 1928 in Poultney the daughter of David and Catherine (Livingston) Pereault. Joan was a graduate of Springfield High School class of 1947. Joan enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Joan is survived by her children, Mary Skovira and husband Steven Maroni of Burlington, Vt, Judy Skovira of Fairfax, VT and by her son John Skovira and his wife Laura of Poultney, by her sisters, Catherine and husband James Feather of Rochester, NH, Mary Godfrey of Charlestown, NH and Sandra Rose of Ludlow, VT. ; grandchildren, Emily Skovira, of Poultney and Elizabeth Crosier and husband Nate, of Newport, ME; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John A. Skovira who died March 25, 1981 and also by a grandson, John Michael Skovira in 2009. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday July 25, 2013 at 10 A.M. at St. Raphaels the Arch Angel Catholic Church with the Rev. Daniel Jordan, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in Poultney Cemetery. There will be no visitation hours as was her request. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St Raphael's Catholic Church, 21 East Main St., Poultney, VT 05764.
