J. Richard Anderson, 77, died Thursday morning, January 6, 2011 upon arrival at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
He was born December 30, 1933 in New Milford, CT, the son of Joseph and Jennie Mildred (Anderson) Anderson.
Richard was a graduate of the Washington High School, Washington, CT, class of 1951. He furthered his education at the University of Connecticut, earning a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in 1955.
He was an officer in the United States Army Reserve and retired a Captain.
He married Julie M. Case on July 6, 1963 in Bethel, CT
Richard was a dairy farmer in Sharon, CT. He then moved to North Granville, NY with his family and operated a farm from 1974 until 1994. He and his wife retired to Connecticut to Julies family farm in Lebanon.
He enjoyed driving his tractor and making things grow. He was a quiet, kind, honest man with a wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by his two daughters, Jill Frahm & her husband Erich, of Prior Lake, MN and Claire Ericksen & her husband Erick, of Middletown Springs, VT, by his brother David Anderson, of Rome, NY, his two sisters, Nancy Antonez, of West Hartford, CT and Linda Malley, of Shawnee, O.K., his three grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and his wife Julie M. Anderson who died October 18, 2010.
A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday January 11, 2011 at 11 am at the Middletown Springs Community Church. The Rev. Jared Wilson will officiate.
Burial will be at a later date in Linwood Cemetery in Colchester, CT.
