EAST POULTNEY-Gertrudes M. Gigi (Geronimo) Alwardt, 82, died July 2, 2012 at Rutland Regional Medical Center. Born in Manila, Republic of the Philippines November 15, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Francisco S. and Antonia (Marcaida) Geronimo. Gigi was a Secretary for the Philippine Government before moving to the United States. Gigi and Ted purchased their home in East Poultney in 1979 and it became their full time residence in 1981, she enjoyed reading and was a member of Grand Circle. She enjoyed extensive world travel. She was a member of St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church of Poultney She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore Ted R. Alwardt who died in 2008 and also by her 3 siblings. Surviving family members include a son, a sister, Letitia Geronimo, of the Philippines; niecesand nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews in the United Sates, the Philippines, and Australia. Friends are invited to call Monday, July 16, 2012 from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM at Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home, 266 Allen Ave. Poultney. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Monday at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church with the Rev Sean Dowling, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be private at East Poultney Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Raphaels Catholic Church or to a local charity of ones choice.
