Elizabeth (Beth) Evans, 86, of Poultney VT, was ushered into glory on Friday morning January 30th 2015. She was born December 27th 1928 and lived her formative years in Kingston NY until moving to Long Island. In 1958, on the eleventh of October she wed Merlin Evans and they settled in the Dix Hills area where she served as a music teacher for over two decades in the Half Hollow Hills school district. She had an amazing perfect pitch voice, and a love for playing the piano. After retiring in the summer of 1976, she and Merlin, along with their two daughters moved to Poultney VT, where Beth enjoyed gardening, singing, and reading. She was active in the Middletown Springs Community Church choir, the Poultney garden club, and the Middletown Springs book club. After Merlin passed in 2005, she moved in with her daughter and son in law before suffering a debilitating stroke in 2008. After rehabilitation, she moved to Mountain View center in Rutland. She was a kind and gentle soul, enjoyed playing cards and bingo with her gang and was loved by staff and residents alike.
In her immediate family she is survived by a daughter, Barbara Mansell of Salt Point NY, two grandsons, Nick and Doug Mansell, a daughter, Susan Blanch of Wallingford, and three granddaughters, Amanda, Katy and Kyla Blanch.
The family would like to extend their most sincere and heartfelt gratitude for the staff at Mountain View Center for their kind and compassionate care of Beth in her final years.
