Obituary

Bridges, David P aged 83 died at his residence in Rutland, Vermont on Friday evening July 22, 2016. He is survived by his wife Nancy of 53 years and their sons, Douglas and Bruce, their wives Patricia and Karyn and granddaughters Margaret, Annabel, Emma and Hannah. A daughter, Sarah, predeceased him. Born in Chicago, Illinois to Elisabeth and Leonard Bridges he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Middlebury College in 1955. He went on to spend 39 years on the faculty of The Hackley School in Tarrytown, New York serving as a teacher, Director of Guidance, Director of Development and Alumni Secretary, Director of Admissions and Assistant Headmaster. He played an integral role in the refurbishing of an existing school structure into a performing arts venue and the theatre space came to bear his name when he retired in 1995. While a resident of Tarrytown he was active in the Rotary Club, which named him a Paul Harris Fellow in 1971, The Chamber of Commerce, which once named him Man of the Year and the Board of Trustees of the Tarrytown YMCA. In addition to several other community organizations. In retirement he and his wife settled in their home in Hampton, New York. He became active in The Slate Valley Museum in Granville, New York and served as President of its Board of Trustees for eleven years. There will be no services. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family at a later date. Those wishing to make contributions in his memory may do so to either The Slate Valley Museum, 17 Water Street, Granville, NY 12832, or to a charity of their choice. .
