Carroll John Gilmore 96, formerly of Ira died Thursday morning February 16, 2012 at the Pines in Rutland. He was born November 16, 1915 in Ira, the son of the late Charles and Grace (Parker) Gilmore. Carroll was a graduate of West Rutland High School class of 1932. After graduation Carroll entered the United States Army serving as a Staff Sergeant in WW II in the South Pacific and Korea. After returning from the war he worked for J.P. Morgan Estates in Glen Cove, Long Island, NY. Returning to Vermont he worked for Worthmore Feed Company in Rutland and later working for Tambrands Inc. for twenty years retiring in 1980. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Ruthe Mae (Traverse) Gilmore who he married July 1, 1968 she predeceased him in 2005, also by his sisters, Rita Gilmore and Shirley Johnston. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Cancer Center at 160 Allen Street Rutland, VT 05701. There will be no services at this time.
