Bernard J. Weiss, a resident of Argyle, NY, was called to his eternal home on Wednesday, April 16, 2015.
He was born February 2, 1928 in Omaha, Nebraska to Frank and Katherine (Kaiser) Weiss.
He graduated from Holy Name High School in Omaha. He attended Creighton University and left school to serve his country in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge he finished his BSEE degree at Iowa State.
He married the love of his life, Annelou (Reifert) in 1950 and they spent the next 63 years together, raising children in NH and PA, and spoiling grandchildren in NY. He loved his extended family and relished their exuberant get-togethers.
Bernard's career accomplishments include working on Raytheon's design and testing team for the first commercial microwave oven, the Radarange, and founding his own company to develop an early warning aircraft radar system.
Bernie loved watching golf and trouncing all comers in friendly golf games on his private three-hole golf course. He mastered every New York Times Sunday crossword puzzle and made the world's best martinis.
Preceded in death by wife Annelou, sisters Alice Bohan and Tess Perry; brothers, Fran and Ray Weiss. Survived by daughters Mary Solomon (Michael), Wilmington, DE; Jean Roberts (Jeffrey), Poultney, VT; Katy Weller (Rick), Barrington, NH; and son Thomas Weiss (Kelly); many grand- and great-grandchildren; brothers, Jerry and Bob Weiss, sisters Rita Couch and Ceil Zuerlein.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, April 20, 2015 at St. Mary's Church, Bulkley Ave., Granville, NY. Burial in Poultney Cemetery immediately following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Poultney Public Library Building Fund 205, Main Street Poultney or to the Poultney Food Shelf Beaman Street Poultney.
