Obituary

Anna S. Parrott, 91, of Clark Hollow Road, East Poultney, Vermont, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, May 8, 2016. She was born Anna Stacia Kovalosky on January 13, 1925, on Maple Hill Farm, East Poultney, Vermont, the daughter of Jacob Kovalosky, a Polish immigrant and Anna Krall Zovistoski of Czech and Polish heritage. Proud of her Polish roots, she was a member of the Polish American Club and attended their many dances and dinners over the years. Anna was a 1944 graduate of Poultney High School and married James H. Parrott of Whitehall, New York on October 2, 1948. The wedding ceremony took place at St. Raphael's Church in Poultney, followed by a traditional Polish reception at her parents' dairy farm. They had been married for over 67 years. Anna's greatest joys were her family and her faith. She was active in her local PTA while her children were growing up and provided unwavering support to them throughout their lives. She was also a member of the Ladies Guild at St. Raphael's Church. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Church in Whitehall, New York and later St. Raphael's in Poultney. In addition to her parents, Anna is predeceased by a sister, Reta Parrott, her brother-in-laws, Elmer Parrott, Bruno Matte and Ned Hayes, and a niece, Bonnie Davis. Survivors include her husband, her children, Annette Parrott of Whitehall, Janet Astileanu of Glens Falls, New York and James J. Parrott Jr. of East Poultney, her grandchildren, Jymma Varelas of Cairo, New York and Jaimie L. James of Glens Falls, her sisters, Katherine Matte of Whitehall, Teresa Hayes of East Poultney, and Agnes Kovalosky of Poultney, as well as many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home, 266 Allen Street, Poultney, Vermont on Thursday, May 12, 2016 from 4-7pm. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Raphael's Church, 21 East Main Street, Poultney, Vermont, Friday, May 13, 2016 at 10am. A burial service will be held at St. Raphael's Cemetery immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Anna may be made to St. Raphael's Church, 21 East Main Street, Poultney, VT 05764 or Our Lady of Hope Church, 9 Wheeler Avenue, Whitehall, NY 12887. .
